There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling den gambling is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is real of most border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel compound that highlights a number of comforts aside from the gambling hall, which houses 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 tables.
