The grandest of the Iowa casinos is the Meswaki Bingo Casino Hotel, an American Indian gambling hall in Tama, with 127,669 square feet of gambling area, 1,500 one armed bandits, thirty table games, such as twenty-one, craps, roulette, and baccarat, and several varieties of poker; also three restaurants, monthly entertainment, and gaming advice. An additional substantial American Indian casino is the Winna Vegas, with 45,000 square feet, 668 slot machines, and fourteen table games. Additionally, the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs never closes, with 38,500 square feet, 1,589 one armed bandits, 36 table games, and 4 eatery’s. There are numerous other dominant Iowa gambling halls, including Harrah’s Council Bluffs, with 28,250 square feet, 1,212 one armed bandits, and 39 table games.
A smaller Iowa casino is the Diamond Jo, a water based casino in Dubuque, with 17,813 sq.ft., 776 slots, and 19 table games. The Catfish Bend river based, in Fort Madison, with 13,000 square feet, 535 slots, and 14 table games. One more Iowa riverboat casino, The Isle of Capri, is open all day and night, with 24,939 sq.ft., 1,100 slots, and 24 table games. The Mississippi Belle II, a 10,577 square foot river based gambling hall in Clinton, has 506 slot machines, 14 table games, live productions, and Thursday chemin de fer events.
Iowa casinos provide a great deal of tax money to the commonwealth of Iowa, which has permitted the funding of a good many commonwealth wide activities. Tourism has gotten bigger at an accelerated rate accompanied with the request for services and a growth in employment. Iowa gambling dens have been instrumental to the expansion of the market, and the affection for wagering in Iowa is across the board.
