There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is illegal. Eight gambling halls are established in a generally small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent location, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and though visas are allegedly required to cross, there are ways around this, as is real of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling hall, features 150 slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel complex that features many conveniences in addition to the gambling den, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 table games.
